Animal Project Information

Animal Project Updates

Animals or students will not be allowed in the barn until the following items are submitted (deadline November 3rd):

  • FFA Dues are paid: https://westfieldhs.revtrak.net/Clubs-Organizations/ffa/#/list
  • FFA member Handbook is turned in (bottom of page)
  • Barn Fees are paid: https://westfieldhs.revtrak.net/Clubs-Organizations/ffa/#/list
  • Gate Opener deposit is paid:https://westfieldhs.revtrak.net/Clubs-Organizations/ffa/#/list 
  • Barn Contract is signed and turned in to Ag teacher (bottom of page)

*Note: If you will be keeping your animal at home, you do not need to submit the barn/gate opener fees.

 Remember:

  • Pigs, lambs, and goats will come in on November 3rd. Chickens and rabbits will come in Jan/Feb (date TBD)
  • Students must maintain grades, behavior, and care of animals or they will be disqualified from show.
  • The livestock show is a terminal show, so all the animals sold will be processed for meat. 
  • Students are responsible for all aspects of animal care, including potential vet bills, medicine, feeding, etc.
  • Students are responsible for setting up their pens in barn. Students will not be allowed into barn to set up until all requirements listed above are met. 

Selection process (lambs, goats, pigs):

 Animal selection will be on November 3rd at Nagy Pavilion (24037 Hardy Rd., Spring 77373), starting at 5:00 pm. 

  • Students will have time to look over animals and take note of ones they possibly want.
  • Students will be put in randomized selection order. 
  • Students will enter ring one at a time in their selection order. They will have a time limit to select their animal before the next exhibitor is allowed into the ring. 
  • Once selection is complete all animals will be brought back to Westfield barn.
